How to Keep Your Toddler Healthy and Warm during Winter

As your toddler's body continues to develop and he becomes more and more involved in his environment, there is always that unwanted risk that he will catch a virus, most especially at winter time, as most winter viruses are deemed to be airborne. It is also at this time that you will also need to protect him from the extreme cold, as those little hands, feet, and toes can get cold very fast. It is up to you as the parent to keep your little one healthy and warm during the winter season. The following are some things you can do to assure your child of good health.

Ingrain the habit of regular hand washing into your little kid. Studies have shown that something as simple as regular hand washing is the most effective way of keeping off certain bacteria and viruses, and can prevent cold and flu bugs from latching on to your kid. Teach or help your child to wash his hands regularly most especially after he does a certain activity, like after using the toilet, before eating his meals and snacks, or right after he comes home from the playground. Another sure-fire way of protecting your child from viruses and bacteria is to get him vaccinated. Make sure he gets his yearly flu shot and you have done a lot to strengthen his immune system.

Finally, to ensure that your toddler is all warm and comfy during the cold winter holidays, bundle him up in the appropriate winter clothing. Dressing your toddler in knitted cloth nappies, skirties, longies, and trousers, which are all made from warm wool or yarn will give him the warmth that he so needs during the winter season.
