Dressing in Layers to Keep Oneself Warm

At least once in your life, try to travel and see places aside from your own locale or region. It is a great way to learn and to experience something different. You might have seen the country's sights and cultures in guidebooks, but you will find out that the actual things are in many ways different than what you perceived them to be.

Differentiating factors may include the weather. Sometimes, no matter how guide books and other sources of information explain the temperature in that region, you cannot really grasp how cold it is there until you step out of the airplane and out into the open.

So how do you protect yourself from the cold without looking like a fat bear? The solution here is to dress in layers. First, wear a chemise, a tank top, or long underwear. Any undershirt will actually do, as long as it is light and thin. This layer absorbs any sweat if you become too warm.

Your second layer should be a short- or long-sleeved shirt. This layer traps the warm air next to your body. Without this layer, warm air tends to leak out as you move.

Your third layer should be a knitted sweater or jacket. Shirts knitted in yarn are the best because it retains heat. If you get too warm, you could always take off this layer easily. A knitted outermost garment also looks better on you than a huge parka or trench coat while offering the same degree of warmth.

If you still feel a bit cold even with this outermost garment, you can add in a matching knitted scarf or cap. So go on and keep yourself warm while looking good.
